Welcome to Open Latch Publications. Our homepage is also the homepage of LATCH: A Journal for the Study of the Literary Artifact in Theory, Culture, or History (ISSN 1940-5731), which is the flagship journal of OLP. LATCH is an academic annual journal dedicated to showcasing scholarly writing that examines how texts both shape and are shaped by the material and ideological currents of their own time. Since texts cannot stand above the constraints and influences of their socio-historical settings, a research emphasis on how and where the nonliterary invades, supports, or illuminates the literary can only enrich the ongoing study of the intertextuality of literature.
The LATCH journal is best accessed online, where pdfs can be downloaded and read free of charge. In order to ensure the archival durability of soft media, one hundred bound copies of each volume will be distributed gratis to contributors, reviewers, and academic libraries across the United States. Two copies will be deposited in the Library of Congress to facilitate the application of legal copyright protection.
Open Latch Publications also offers the following serial groups: the Data-For-Analysis Group (the Surveys and Questionnaires series, the Fieldwork 101 series, Reference Point, Spectrum, and High School Teacher), and the Curriculum-Aids Group (Swordfish, Stingray, Sparkplug, Laurel Leaf, Firefly). Click on the group name for a link to the page where the serials are posted.
