Welcome to Open Latch Publications, a micropress dedicated to providing a line of open-access serials, a selection of affordable textbooks, both in electronic and traditional print format, and a subscription set of survey reports. In the main, the focus of these publications is twofold: (1) the literary artifact as it appears in theory, culture, or history, and (2) research techniques in English communication and rhetoric.

OPEN-ACCESS SERIALS

Our open-access serials include:

LATCH: A Journal for the Study of the Literary Artifact in Theory, Culture, or History

The LATCH Collection Series (LCS)

PINWHEEL: Showcases of Student Creativity

Collegiate Knowledge Levels: Contemporary Culture & Current Events (A NOCS Data-For-Analysis survey serial)

LATCH  and LCS are posted in pdfs on the open-access serials page (see link above) and also printed and distributed to academic libraries across the country. TEXTBOOKS

OLP offers two lines of textbooks. The Curriculum Aids Texts ("CAT") are pdf texts that focus on basic literary, compositional, or research skills and that offer opportunities for editorial grading and evaluation. The Rook Books ("A Rook Book") are abbreviated versions of the Curriculum Aids Texts and, as they offer no opportunities for  student/editor interaction, are offered at lower prices. Click on the textbooks link above to browse current titles and read summaries.

OLP CHARITIES

Our motto is "mind, body, spirit, and soul." While many of our products are geared to teach college-level writing and research skills or to provide current research work on literary texts, OLP gives to programs or initiatives that benefit younger students in ways that supplement traditional learning. These ways include nutrition instruction, craft and manual creative activities, and exercise/sport programs. Click on the "OLP Charities" link above for more information.

BINDERY

OLP offers clothbound blank journals made with chipboard, which is stronger than the traditional bookboard, and with an option for having the page gatherings sewn rather than glued. Spines and cover tags can be personalized so that your journal or ledger is unique. The bindery can also print hardbound or softbound books on a low-volume basis for individual customers who wish to preserve personal documents (NOTE: these items are printed, bound, and distributed only to the owner on an private-buyer basis and are not published by OLP in any way). Click on the bindery link above to see products and printing options.
